Bryant J. Williams
Promise Project, Mentoring Area Coordinator

Bryant Williams emerged onto Fresno, California’s community-services scene in June of 1997, upon successful completion of a 5-year service contract with the Personnel Services Division of the United States Army. After honorably serving as a Personnel Administrative Specialist/ Section Sergeant for one of the largest Military Police Units in the nation, Bryant was honorably discharged from the military in Dec of 1996. It was then that Bryant relocated to Fresno, CA with his immediate family.

Bryant has compiled over 12 years of paid service time in the community/public services (8 of which in the employment and training sector). He has successfully served as a Case Manager, Workshop Facilitator, Job Developer, Youth Counselor, Lead Lob Specialist and Project Coordinator for various community projects in his short tenure in the community/public services field.

Bryant comes to One-by-One Leadership by way of Fresno Center for New American’s – Relocation Employment Project (FCNA-REP). During his 2-year stint with the FCNA, Bryant served as Job Specialist II, Job Specialist III and finally Project Coordinator for the Relocation Employment Project.  Under the brilliant direction of Mr. Lue N. Yang and Mr. Silas Cha, Bryant and his team were able to successfully relocate hundreds of Cal-Works recipients and their immediate families to employment and self-sufficiency in other cities and states across the nation.

A native of Illinois, Bryant adds a little more of that “mid-western charm” to the One by One Leadership family.  In his spare time, Bryant enjoys fishing and giving Domino or Chess lessons to his close friends and family.  Bryant also loves spending time with the kids in his family and mentoring kids throughout the neighborhood

Rose Orta
Mentoring Area Coordinator

As a five-year veteran of One by One Leadership, Rose Orta has touched hundreds of lives as a Mentoring Coach in the One Mentor Center.  Her passion to help others is infectious.  Her goal is to serve one person at a time, then encourage that person to serve someone else. She helps mentors and mentees discover their assets, learn from their mistakes and encourages them to never give up.

Growing up in a family with seven brothers and three sisters forced onto public assistance due to her father’s back injury, she knows first hand what its like to struggle and do without. She knows what its like to have to put the family before self.  She can relate to many of the mentees because she was once there.

Rose has been instrumental in 3 of the Mentor Center’s most successful projects, the Fresno Neighborhood Jobs Network, the CalWorks Mentoring Initiative, and the Housing Authority Mentoring Project and is currently working on the Mentoring Children of Prisoners Project.

Rose is an amazing artist, loves the outdoors, but most of all, she loves spending time with her sons.
